Peter Obi is a Nigerian politician, businessman, and philanthropist who was born on July 19, 1961, in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. He is a former governor of Anambra State, having served from 2006 to 2014.

Peter Obi’s Education

Obi was educated at Christ the King College, Onitsha, and later the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he earned a degree in Philosophy. He also attended Lagos Business School, Harvard Business School, and the Kellogg School of Management.

Before his foray into politics, Obi was a successful businessman, with interests in areas such as the banking, brewing, and hospitality industries. He was also the Chairman of the Board of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and served as a member of the Presidential Economic Management Team.

Political History

In 2003, Obi entered politics and contested for the governorship seat of Anambra State under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), but his election was overturned by the courts. He contested again in 2006, and this time he was successful, becoming the governor of the state.

As governor, Obi implemented a number of reforms that transformed Anambra State, including the construction of roads and bridges, the introduction of e-governance, and the establishment of a number of industries. He was also known for his frugal management of public funds, which earned him a reputation as a “financial wizard.”
